GTO

Notes on a 1992 Mitsubishi GTO

what a qt𝜋

I recently bought a 1992 Mitsubishi GTO. I plan on using this post to log notes etc about the car in case anyone else finds it useful later on.

Exhaust High-Temperature Sensor

The catayltic converter on my GTO died recently, and needed replacing, and unfortunately it took the exhaust high-temperature sensor with it.

The original part on the japanese-market GTO was the MD172407, which is discontinued and an absolute plain in the ass to get hold of, fortunately the MD1660321, which was used on the US 3000GT, and dodge stealth, seems to be electrically compatible2, so I fitted one of those and it seems to work3.

Just leaving this here in case anyone else runs into the same problem as me

  1. Seems to be also sold under part numbers ETS20 and SU6649. ↩︎

  2. The catalytic converter overheat light is often on for about a minute after starting the car, but doesn’t seem to cause any problems. ↩︎

  3. Required some minor modification and resuse of the original sensor. ↩︎
